El Día E is a special day to celebrate the Spanish language. It is held each year by the Instituto Cervantes. This year, El Día E is on Saturday, June 22. Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world. It is full of culture and history. To honor El Día E, we are sharing free Spanish toolkits to help prevent sexual assault.
Tools for Self-Advocates and Families
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can use the toolkits to learn how to stay safe. The guides use clear words and examples. They have discussion questions, role-plays, and more. They help self-advocates speak up and know their rights.
Families play a big role in keeping loved ones safe. The toolkits include tips for talking about consent, boundaries, and recovery. Everything is written in plain Spanish.
Spanish Toolkits for Professionals
There are toolkits for teachers and service providers, too. Professionals can learn better ways to help people with IDD feel safe and strong. They can use the toolkits to teach self-advocates. Or they can use the toolkits for staff development.
