A few months ago, we told you about eight free courses from our Participatory Action Research Start Up! Series. We are pleased to announce a new set of six more free courses! They are our Participatory Action Research Level Up! Series. These free courses help self-advocates build off the Start Up! Series.
What You’ll Learn
The Level Up! Series has new topics for self-advocates who want to work on projects. It includes courses on:
- Accessibility: Making things easier to use and do
- Boundaries: How they change at work and with friends
- Informed Consent: How to keep all team members safe and well
Why Self-Advocates Should Lead
Self-advocates should be part of research and projects about their lives. This makes sure the work is fair, real, and helpful. Our new courses build on the basics in the Start Up! Series.
The Level Up! Series helps self-advocates grow as leaders. When self-advocates lead, they bring lived experience and smart ideas to the table. They help teams make better choices. They reach more people.
We need strong leaders in the self-advocacy movement now more than ever! These courses are a great step for anyone who wants to grow their voice and make change.
Free Courses for Self-Advocate Leaders and Others
All of the courses are free. They are made by and for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Self-advocates can take them on their own. You do not need to finish the courses all at once. You can learn at your own pace.
The courses can also be used in a group. We have group learning guides for teachers, service providers, program staff, and others. Each guide includes the Level Up! course. It also shares tips for teaching in group settings.
